Pakistan’s new military commander being paid by American tax money

On October 19th, 2013, the US government had pledged $1.6 billion (USD) to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan for their assistance. This money was sent to be used for the Pakistani military, the American government claiming that it is to fight the Taliban.

On November 27th, taking advantage of the new flow of foreign aid, Pakistan has now hired a new military commander. Raheel Sharif, who was appointed to his position strictly due to his family relation to Pakistani PM Nawaz Sharif, who has ties to radical Islamist groups in Kashmir, and supports the holocaust of Pakistani Hindus, as the Times of India has confirmed.

Pakistani textbooks for children were also under fire for teaching radical hate, anti-Hindu, anti-Western hatred. They taught that India and America are responsible for all problems in Pakistan. The new Pakistani military commander has shown his support for these books many times before he was appointed to his position.

The State Department told Congress that the U.S. hadn’t conducted any significant military financing for Pakistan since the “challenging and rapidly changing period of U.S.-Pakistan relations” in 2011 and 2012. The department stressed the importance now of enhancing Pakistan’s anti-terrorism capabilities through better communications, night vision capabilities, maritime security and precision striking with F16 fighter jets.

The department told Congress on July 25 that it would spend $295 million to help Pakistan’s military. Twelve days later it announced $386 million more. A pair of notifications, arriving on Aug. 13 and worth $705 million, centered on helping Pakistani troops and air forces operating in the militant hotbeds of western Pakistan, and other counterinsurgency efforts.

The administration had until the end of September to provide Congress with “reprogramming” plans at the risk of forfeiting some of the money, which spans federal budgets from 2009-2013.

The Pakistani military although does not have the cleanest history, previously it has been accuse several times of allegedly burning Christians alive in their homes, and not responding properly to the bomb blast at the Peshawar Christian Church a few months ago, killing 80.

Americans should be asking where their tax dollars are really going.

The Pakistani embassy in Washington would not comment about the aid, nor comment about Sharif’s specific programs.
