BAGHDAD – Islamic Sunni militants targeted Iraq’s Christian community on the auspicious occasion of Christmas in THREE different attacks, killing at least 38 people, say Iraqi officials.
In one attack, a car bomb went off in the Southern neighbourhood of Dora near a major Church, killing 26 people, and wounding another 48, many of them were children and women.
Earlier before that, two other bombs went of through a nearby outdoor market simultaneously in the Christian section of Athorien, killing 11 people and wounding 21, 15 of the wounded were women or children.
The Iraq-based leader of the Chaldean Catholic Church, Louis Sako, said the parked car bomb exploded after Christmas Mass and that none of the worshippers were hurt. Sako said he didn’t believe the church was the target.
The Christian community in Iraq is slowly disappearing, with only 400,000 Christians residing in Iraq, in 1950, that number was much higher. Christians are being persecuted by Al Qaeda, and continue to be, although it is not clear if the Al Qaeda was involved in this particular attack, but they have previously attacked many Christians in Iraq.
The Al Qaeda-Taliban slow merger in the middle-east has been opening the doors for more attacks in Muslim, and neighbouring non-Muslim countries on non-Muslims. For example the recent Church bombings in Peshawar, Pakistan, done by the Taliban, vowing to continue until NATO leaves the Muslim Khalifah, at the same time of the Church bombings, Al Shabab’s militant group also attacked the Nairobi West Mall, an organisation funded by Al Qaeda.
During the Eid-ul-fitra celebrations in Kashmir, a mob of 20,000 Muslims attacked Hindus after reciting the Qur’an, they rioted and destroyed many buildings.
Muslims have an evil agenda, and it is time to wake up before it is too late!
